This is by far one of the most important things I’ve seen on tumblr because It describes things I was not able to
I feel like it’s important to reblog this repeatedly. not just for everyone else, but to remind myself that I’m…
Very important post. If you have any friends whatsoever that have told you that they have anxiety problems, which also can include panic attacks, PLEASE read this.
I have suffered with this all of my life, with an addition to bipolar/manic depressive. I have had panic attacks so severe that I’ve passed out in the bath tub, cut deeper than i meant to (causing me to actually have to ask for help getting the bleeding stopped), and had my face turn blue while my then boyfriend egged it on because he thought I was being a baby (turned out that he had triggered thoughts of when I had been sexually assaulted before by someone else, him unknowing; after which he apologized, we set boundaries).
This problem has kept me from interacting with new people, caused me to lose friends, boyfriends, and been ignored by family, and has caused people who are my ‘friends’ to avoid me at most costs.
It is important to know that these problems are not ‘fixable’ by adding attention to them. This just makes it worse. Also something that isn’t mentioned, do NOT overly suggest we seek out a therapist. I can tell you that I’ve had three therapists, none of which I’ve been able to feel comfortable with to even tell them that I was sexually abused at various points in my life.

You may have already seen this, but it’s positive and simple, and I like it.
It can be really hard for people to deal with this kind of news - or with self-injury in general. It’s nice to have a friend to talk to, but not always possible. Know that relapses are not the end of the world at all - just like with quitting smoking, or eating healthier, slipups come at moments of stress or when we need comfort. Keep yourself together, try to figure out what triggered you and deal with it as best you can. After all - if you eat a cupcake when you’re on a diet, the solution is not to keep bingeing - it’s to get back on track, cut yourself a break and keep eating well. Don’t lose focus. You owe it to your wonderful self to be healthy and happy!
I get the urge to self-harm when I feel like my life is out of control, or when I’ve done something to really hurt someone. Now I try to call a friend, get out of the house, or draw. It happens almost never, but having friends who can be there just to grab a coffee or chat can be a lifesaver. If you can’t, just be kind to yourself. You can be okay.
