NEW DISCOVERY! I absolutely LOVE this blog Farmtina, which was created by this super-cute, crafty, and talented Brooklyn-based graphic designer and amateur gardener, Martina Fugazzotto, who’s running her own little farmlette in the city. The most inspiring thing is that she has no previous farming/agricultural experience and is so clever about her urban planting strategies. (See her DIY Outdoor Vertical Planter.)
Martina on farming:
“My definition of “farm” is really just a living space that brings together home grown vegetables & fruits, animals, flowers & trees, and concoctions that use all of these ingredients together.”
I’ve been guiltily tossing away my apple cores, orange rinds, and other juicer-scraps for months with no compost heap to bury them in. I complain about the lack of space/sunshine/air/plants in the city almost daily. Now I can see that I can fix those problems and I’m motivated to start working on a mini-farm of my own + LITTLE ANIMALS! New summer project? Yes!
Ahhh she is so adorable! See, you can ‘farm’ anywhere!

Bam’s first interview after Dunn’s death.
WEST GOSHEN, Pa. - West Chester’s Bam Margera talks only to Fox 29 about the loss of his best friend, “Jackass” co-star Ryan Dunn.
Fox 29’s Chris O’Connell was in West Chester on Monday night after Margera returned home from a business trip to be with his family.
“I’ve never lost anybody that I care about, he’s my best friend,” Margera said as he broke down on camera.
Dunn and another friend, Zach Hartwell, died in a car crash on Monday morning.
The Margera family has been open about their affection for Dunn and said he was considered a family member.
Bam’s parents spoke at length on Monday with Fox 29’s Lena Lewis about Dunn.
The coroner’s report is out and it says Dunn and Hartwell died from the impact and resulting fire of the crash in West Goshen Township early yesterday morning.
Police have done an accident reconstruction and say Dunn’s Porsche might have been traveling as fast as 130 miles per hour when it jumped a guardrail, flew into a ravine, and burst into flames.
Margera visited the crash site and spoke only to Fox 29.
“I was in Arizona with best friends having the best time with friends,” Margera said.
“He was the happiest person, the smartest guy with so much talent.”
Margera said on Sunday night he started to rip out parts of a van for no apparent reason. It turned out that incident happened at the same time Dunn died in a crash.
“It is not right,” Margera told us as he was in tears.
“It was the worst phone call I got in my life,” Margera said.
O’Connell said while he was at the crash site with Bam, police were concerned that people were trying to steal wreckage from the site to sell on eBay.
The accident happened at Route 322 and Pottstown Pike near West Chester over the weekend, leaving friends, family and fans shocked at the loss.Fox 29’s Lena Lewis spoke to the manager of the bar where Dunn and Hartwell were hanging out before the crash.
He says the two men looked fine when they left the bar early Monday morning, and they were taking pictures with fans and saying hello to people in the bar.
They also were apparently celebrating some new upcoming production.
The latest reports are that the cause of death was blunt force impact and the fire that destroyed Dunn’s car upon impact.
Investigators say the crash was so violent it was impossible to tell if it was the crash itself or the fire that came after that was the cause of death.
Now they are working on toxicology exams to determine if there was alcohol involved. The results are expected in about 4 to 6 weeks.
